The
original Tamworth Athletic Club Website was brought online
on Thursday November the 13th 2003. Since then the site has
gone from strength to strength promoting the club to potential
members. It provided a means for existing members and competing
athletes all over the country to find out about events and
obtain the details they need to participate. Then after events
had taken place the site provided the results and reports
which was always hard to find online in one place. The current
incarnation of the site (this one) was launched on December
3rd 2004 at the annual volunteers party. The whole site has
had a major re-think to accomodate the service it needs to
provide, and it has also being given a fresh new look to boot!.

Arthur
Turner (Arthur's
Site):
Arthur
(58), a former athlete with the club (who now provides volunteer
services to the club) was the instigator of the website project,
citing the need for a new avenue for the club to promote itself
on the Internet. Arthur provides assistance with content management,
and design consultancy, proving very useful in preventing
major disasters occuring with colours and clashes etc!.
Martin Summers:
Martin (23) is a long time friend (and former neighbour)
of Arthur, and was asked by him to help create the site. Martin
works for Tamworth & Lichfield College within the IT Centres
working as an Assessor. Martin had previously designed and
run the Kube Nightclub website when it first opened (it has
since changed). Martin provides the technical know how in
actually creating the site structure, workings and graphics,
and also maintains the server the site runs on.
Chris
Graves:
Chris (It's unpolite to ask a lady her age)
is Tamworth Athletic Club's tireless secretary who has been
an active participant in the site on the content side of things.
Chris has been busy since the launch of the site providing
the regular news and report bulletins and has cast her critical
eye over developments on the site for us.

Version 2.0 - First version of this site - Fixed content
width and javascript navigation system which we decided to
ditch.
Version 3.0 - Yes we skipped a version! This site is
almost completely different to the one we were working on,
we decided on a last minute change (no mean feat) on October
26th to an expandable full-screen content design. Also we
incorporated new top navigation and masthead. We make full
use of SSI (Server Side Includes) for the top,left,right and
bottom content panels.
I am looking at PHP (when I get chance), it will make life
easier.
