Tamworth Carnival - 19 June 2004 Sunday, April 25 2004
Tamworth Lions Club are now in the midst of organising this year's Tamworth Carnival and are hoping that Tamworth AC will be able to join them on the day.
As this is an Olympic year, a sports/fun theme has been chosen.
It is a few years since the club joined in the Carnival. If you would like to take part or organise a non-motorised or motorised entry please see a committee member. Applcation forms are available from Chris, the Club Secretary on club nights or phone 287177.
All monies raised are used each year to help local charities and good causes. No money is used for administration purposes.
The categories are non motorised, motorised, fancy dress and trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each category.
The non-mororised section of the procession can include a bed, bath or wheelbarow, in fact anything you can come up with.

Ex TAC athlete dies in car crash Thursday, April 22 2004
Ex TAC athlete Gareth Newton has died in a recent tragic road accident on Peeler's Way , Tamworth.
A group of Tamworth AC members and friends will be attending Gareth's funeral at Wilnecote Church on Monday 26 April at 12.45 and afterwards at Sutton Crematorium.
The family have requested family flowers only and donations to go to the Air Ambulance appeal.

'Reception' groups planned for TAC Wednesday, April 21 2004
Plans are well advanced for two ‘Reception’ groups , for new junior athletes aged 8-13, to be set up at Tamworth AC during May 2004
The new squads will run for approximately 20 weeks from May to September on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5.30 -6.30pm. All new athletes in this age group who wish to train at T.AC as members or non-members will join these groups.
The length of time an athlete will spend in the ‘Reception’ squad ,before joining the main squads that train from 7pm, will be decided on an individual basis.
Andy Day, TAC’s new coaching co-ordinator will run the Thursday session.
HOWEVER -
At the moment the club is short of one qualified coach to take on the Tuesday night session from 5.30-6.30pm.Without a coach on Tuesdays the whole system will be unable to work.
Please help us.

Club database needs YOUR results Monday, April 19 2004
If you are taking part in any Open Meetings, including those for your University or College, County Championships and Midland Championships please pass your results on to Mick Sanderson through the tamworthac@aol.com email address.
Mick needs your results for the TAC database and for inclusion in the Tamworth Herald.

The club newsletter is now available for download in the members forum.
It's March - April's issue and won't be available at the club for at least another week. So if you haven't registered for the forum, and then as a club member, do it now to gain access. Follow the instructions in the forum once registered.

Annual Spring Clean - Your club needs YOU Wednesday, April 14 2004
There will be a Spring Clean at Tamworth AC on Sunday 18 April from 11am.
Please come along even if you can only spare half an hour and admire the new gates at the same time. All welcome.
Jobs include:-
Litter picking, grass cutting, edging, painting, plumbing, cleaning, general maintenance of the stadium and clubhouse, clear out of storage units.

3 medals for Race Walkers in Midlands Champs Tuesday, April 6 2004
Tamworth Athletic Club’s Race Walkers were on top form when they took 3 medals at the Midland Championships which were held at Abby Park, Leicester, on Saturday 3rd April. Medallists were:-

Men’s 20km Silver Mark Williams
Girls U/15 3km Bronze Danielle Webb
Girls U/13 2km Bronze Michaela Webb
