Starter 'Reception' squad gets off to a flying start Thursday, May 27 2004
The new starter 'Reception' squad running on Thursday nights from 5.30-6.30pm has created a lot of interest amongst potential young athletes in the Tamworth area.
The squad is following a specially structured programme in a FUN environment and includes events such as sprints, middle distance, javelin, long jump, high jump, shot putt, hurdles, triple jump and starts/relays.
Assessment of skills will be carried out by the coaches and coaching assistants who are led by Andy Day, Tamworth AC's coaching co-ordinator.
The weekly sessions, sponsored by Active Sports and Tamworth AC, will run from May to September. All athletes attending will need to complete a registration form and attend an induction session before starting.
A 'pay as you go' system has been set up with the two free sessions to start you off. Non-members then pay a concessionary amount of £2 per session and those who have chosen to join the club as members pay £1.50
For health and safety reasons it is very important that athletes new to TAC attend an Induction session with Ray, the Induction officer, before joining the 'Reception' squad. These sessions run every Tuesday and Thursday night at 7pm in the clubhouse.
For more details and a registration form ring the club secretary Chris on T 287177
