Double Win at Mansfield Friday, May 27 2005
Tamworth Athletic Club took a further step towards promotion to the National Junior League Premier Division when both the men's and women's teams won their latest matches at Mansfield to stay at the top of their leagues.
  In the men's match, John Jenkins ran an excellent race to win the 800m from the front in a personal best time of 2:00.6mins.
  David Lines also produced some good performances to win the 400m hurdles in a personal best 59.9secs, the 400m in 53.8secs and claim second place in the 110m hurdles in 19.9secs.
  Nathan Woodward won his 400m hurdles in 57.9secs, his high jump with a clearance of 1.75m and took second place in the 110m hurdles in a personal best of 16.6secs.
  Alex Berrow produced the goods as usual in the throws with personal best distances in all his events.He took second place in the hammer with a throw of 42.45m, fourth in the shot with 10.86m and the same position in the discus with a throw of 31.70m.
  Juan Padmore gained good points for the team with third place in the long jump with a leap of 6.12m and second in his shot with a 9.09m putt.
  David Levett picked up a couple of first places, winning his hammer event with a throw of 35.92m and the discus with a personal best of 27.42m.
  Dan Challis also picked up useful points, clocking 11.9secs for second place in the 100m and clearing 2m for third place in the pole vault.
  Daniel Cash produced a good personal best clearance of 1.75m for fourth place in the high jump and took third spot in his 200m in 24.1secs.
  Neil Rudd set a season's best time of 52.7secs for fourth place in the 400m, while Richard Bown picked up two fifth places in the sprints, clocking 11.9secs in the 100m and 23.7secs in the 200m.
  Stephen Tonks took second place in the triple jump with a leap of 12.15m, third in the 800m in 2:07.7mins and fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.41m.
  Adam Bache picked up a couple of personal bests when he finished in third place in the 3,000m in 10:03.4secs and fifth in the 2,000m steeplechase in 7:53.7mins.
  Simon King ran a personal best 9:40.8mins for fifth place in the 3,000m and followed this up with seventh in the 1,500m in 4:36.2mins.
  David Goodwin, making his debut in the javelin, took fourth place with a throw of 29.94m and Ashley Smethan claimed fifth place in the B event when he equalled his personal best of 17.12m.

The Tamworth ladies also produced a good team performance to win their match with first places going to Hollie Owen, Marianne Pritchard, Danielle Webb and Rebecca Findlay.
  Owen won the 200m in 26.3secs and took second place in the 100m in a season's best of 13.1secs.
  Pritchard won her 3,000m in 12:40.5mins and took fifth place in her discus with a throw of 13.78m. Webb won her 100m hurdles in 21.7secs and took third place in the javelin with a throw of 13.35m.
  Findlay took first place in the B 400m hurdles in 85.6secs, second in the high jump with a clearance of 1.45m and third in the triple jump with a personal best jump of 8.84m.
  Alana Smethan set a season's best throw of 37.80m for second place in the hammer, while Reanne Wood picked up a third place in the same event with a personal best throw of 21.47m.
  Leah Moores, guesting in the 400m, took fourth place in a personal best time of 61.8secs and joined Charlotte Elvins, Owen and Liz Checkley to win the 4x400m relay.
 Justine Passey took third place in the A 100m in 13.4secs with sister Jenna in second spot in the B 1,500m in 6:26.4mins.
  Katherine Snowden took second place in the 800m in 2:31.1mins and third in the 100m hurdles in a personal best 20.2secs.
  Checkley gained good points for the team with third places in the 400m, in a season's best 61.5secs, and the 200m in 27.6secs. She also claimed second place in the B pole vault with a clearance of 1.70m.
  Megan Jacobs took second place in the 3,000m in 12:29.1mins and Rebecca Hallam was third in the 400m in a personal best time of 64.7secs.
 Sophie Cash and Gemma Wheelhouse also gained good team points over several events.
  Wheelhouse finished in second place in the discuss with a throw of 26.86m, third in the shot with 8.93m and sixth in the javelin with a throw of 16.72m.
  Cash picked up three third places with 6.95m in the shot, a clearance of 1.50m in the high jump and a time of 78.3secs in the 400m hurdles.
  Sarah Williams cleared 2m for second place in the pole vault before injury forced her to retire and Jessica Thompson took second place in her triple jump with a personal best leap of 7.71m.
  Sara Benson took fourth place in the long jump with a leap of 4.54m and won the guests' 100m race in 14.9secs.
  Claire Free took third place in the B long jump with 3.42m and was second in the guests' 100m in 15.1secs, with Hannah Alton third in 15.3secs and Paula Hickinbottom fourth in 16.3secs.
