| Tamworth Ac are odds on to win both the men's and women's Trent Divisions of the National Junior League and gain promotion to the Premier League next season. They won their latest matches by 69 points and 40 points respectively, to open up a gap at the top of both divisions. In the men's match, Nathan Woodward won the 400m hurdles in 56.4secs, the 110m hurdles in 17.3secs and took third place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.75m. David Lines won his 4oom hurdles in 60.5secs, 110m hurdles in 22.2secs and also ran a leg in the 4x400m winning relay team.John Jenkins picked up a win in the 400m in a personal best time of 52.8secs and took sixth place in the 800m in 2:08.1mins. Daniel Cash won the high jump when he equalled his personal best of 1.75m and set another personal best when he clocked 23.4secs for second place in the 200m. Juan Padmore gained his usual win in the long jump with 6.21m and gained second place in the shot with a putt of 8.2 Adam Smith won the long jump with a personal best jump of 5.82m and took third place in the triple jump with 12.87m. Alex Berrow won the discus with a throw of 25.68m, took second place in the hammer with 40.45m and third in the shot with a personal best of 11.22m. David Levett also picked up valuable points, winning the hammer with a personal best throw of 37.17m and taking third in the discus with 26.39m.Tom Hardman, making a welcome return after injury, won the javelin with 43.80m. Also making a valuable contribution to the team were Richard Bown, Neil Rudd, Ashley Smetham, Simon King and Adam Bache.Bown took second place in the 200m in 23.5secs and third in the 100m in 11.4secs.Rudd was second in the 400m in 52.6secs and played an important part in the two winning relay teams.Smetham finished in fourth place in the javelin with a throw of 15.55m and was fifth in the 2,000m steeplechase in 10:35.4mins. King was fourth in the 800m in 2:08.1mins and was fifth in the 1,500m in 5:07.7mins. Nick Crawford gained a good third place in the 100m when he equalled his personal best of 12.2secs. He also came third in the triple jump with another personal best performance of 10.94m. Bache finished in fourth place in the 3,000m in 10:03.6mins and seventh in the 1,500m in 4:37.1mins. Tamworth completed their runaway win with Rudd, Padmore, Dan Cash and Crawford winning the 4x400m relay and David Lines, Rudd, John Jenkins and Woodward taking first place in the 4x400m relay.
In the women's match, Tamworth won by 40 points with every team member gaining at least one top three finish. Danielle Webb won the 400m hurdles in 1:16.6mins and the 100m hurdles in a personal best time of 21.4secs. She also took fourth place in the 1,500m in 5:49.4mins. Hollie Owen equalled her personal best of 25.9secs to win the 200m and took third place in the 100m in 13secs.Rebecca Hallam was second in the 400m in 1:06.1mins and in the shot with 6.34m. Reanne Wood was second in the hammer with a throw of 19.87m, while Marianne Pritchard was second in the 800m in 2:52.1mins and fourth in the javelin with a personal best throw of 11.53m. Sophie Cash made a promising debut in the triple jump to finish second with a leap of 9.12m. She finished third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.40m and was also fourth in the 400m hurdles in a personal best time of 1:15mins. Liz Checkley equalled her personal best clearance of 1.70m in the pole vault for second place and was fifth in the 200m in 27.6secs. Sarah Williams took second place in the pole vault with 2.55m and another second in the 3,000m in a time of 15:34mins.Charlotte Elvins made her debut in the 400m and finished third in 1:05.2mins. Claire Perry was third in the long jump with 3.31m and came fourth in the javelin with a personal best throw of 25m.Kat Snowdon finished third in the 800m in 2:33.1mins and came fourth in the 100m hurdles in 20.5secs. Sara Benson finished second in the high jump with a clearance of 1.30m, fourth in the long jump with 4.49m and came fifth in the 100m in 14.1secs. Gemma Wheelhouse, as usual, produced some solid performances in the throws to claim third place in the discus with 27.03m, fourth in the shot with 8.35m and fifth in the hammer with 19.94m. Laura Fell and Hannah Alton were part of the sprint relay team that finished third. Laura recorded 13.9secs and Hannah 15.1secs in a 100m guests race.

| Young Athletes Still Improving |

| Tamworth' ACs young athletes produced some excellent performances when they finished a close third in the second Young Athletes League match. There was a total of 42 personal best performances by Tamworth athletes, with Alex Berrow (hammer) and Hollie Owen (300m) winning athlete of the match awards. In the under-17s men's age group, homegrown athletes gaining personal bests were Nathan Woodward (400m hurdles, 100m hurdles and high jump), Berrow (hammer and discus), Dan Challis (200m and pole vault), Tom Burton (100m hurdles and high jump), Nathan Jones-Faulkes (discus), Ashley Smetham (hammer), Nick Crawford (triple jump) and David Goodwin (javelin). Berrow's fine throw of 49.91m in the hammer wasn't just good enough for victory, it passed the national championships qualifying standard and English schools entry standard. He also gained second places in the discus and shot with 32.88m and 11.44m respectively. Woodward picked up a first place in the 400m hurdles in 55.4secs, another first in the 100m hurdles in 14.9secs and second place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.85m. Burton picked up a double when he won the 100m hurdles in 14.9secs and the high jump with 1.60m. Challis won the pole vault with a clearance of 2.40m, took third place in the 200m in 24secs and was fourth in the 100m in 11.7secs. Juan Padmore picked up his usual double when he won the long jump with 6.05m and the shot with a putt of 10.40m. Another athlete picking up his usual double was Jones-Faulkes who won the javelin with 40.37m and the discus with 30.10m. Smetham won his hammer event with a throw of 32.52m and Simon King won the 3,000m in 10:07.5mins, and finished fourth in the 1,500m in 5:56.8mins. Crawford won the triple jump with a leap of 10.56m and the long jump with 4.89m. he also took fourth place in the 400m in 64secs. Goodwin won his javelin with a throw of 32.31m and finished third in the 100m in 13secs. Ben Storey won his triple jump with a leap of 10.21m, finished fourth in the 200m in 27.8secs and the same position in the 400m in 62.2secs. In the under-15 boys age group, personal bests went to Tom Challis (100m and high jump) and Steve Deeley (3,000m).Deeley won the 3,000m in 10:23.1mins and finished fourth in the 400m in 66.1secs.Challis won the high jump with a clearance of 1.50m, took third place in the 100m in 12.5secs and the same position in the 200m in 25.9secs. Craig Farrell won his 80m hurdles in 16.7secs and took second place in the 800m in 2:22.1mins. Alex Elson won his 800m in 2:30.5mins and finished fourth in the long jump with 4.18m. Chris Smith took third place in the javelin with a throw of 31.34m, another third in the discus with 23.51m and fourth in the hammer with a throw of 15.79m. Matthew Wood finished in fourth place in the A 1,500m in 5:15.9mins and newcomer Steven Harris took second place in the B event in 5:07.8mins. David Hudson finished in third place in the long jump with of 3.77m and clocked 14.1secs for fourth in the 100m. Ian Findlay finished third in the 80m hurdles in 15.6secs and in the shot with a putt of 9.07m. He was also second in the 400m in 72.3secs. Joe Saddington took second place in the 3,000m in 11:59.7mins and fourth in the shot with 5.91m. Another newcomer to the team was Iwan Cashmore who picked up three third places with 31.3secs in the 200m, 15.77m in the discus and 14.92m in the javelin. In the under-13 boys age group, athletes gaining personal bests were Adam McGee (100m and 800m), James Thacker (100m), Nathan Christian (800m), Ted White (high jump), Stephen Parkes (1,500m), Brett Cash (high jump) and Jordan Roach (200m). White won the high jump with a clearance of 1.43m and the shot with a putt of 8.04m. Thacker picked up a double in the B sprints when he won the 100m in 14.3secs and the 200m in 30.1secs. Parkes won his shot with a putt of 6.32m and took second place in the 1,500m in a time of 4:51mins. Roach took second place in the 200m in 28.9secs and the same position in the long jump with 4.29m. McGee finished second in the 100m in 13.7secs and third in the B 800m in 2:42.8mins. Christian took third place in the A 800m in 2:37mins and Farrell was third in the 1,500m in 5:28.1mins. Cash finished third in the 75m hurdles in 17.4secs and picked up another third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.15m. Jake Nottman was fourth in the 75m hurdles in 16.7secs and teamed up with Christian, White and McGee to win the 4x100m relay. In the under-17 women's group, personal bests went to Hannah Alton (100m), Sophie Cash (80m hurdles), Claire Perry (long jump) and Rebecca Findlay (triple jump). Top performances in this age group came from Hollie Owen, who won the 300m in 41.8secs and the 200m in 26.6secs. Findlay won her 300m hurdles in 60.6secs, the high jump with a clearance of 1.45m and third in the triple jump with 8.95m. Cash won the A 300m hurdles in 53secs, took second in the 80m hurdles in 13.9secs and third in the shot with 6.69m. Charlotte Elvin won her 300m in 45.6secs and finished third in the 800m in 3:07.1mins. Marianne Pritchard won the 3,000m in 12:32.3mins with Katie Barker winning the B event in 14:48.8mins. Claire Free finished second in the 200m in 28.5secs, the same position in the triple jump with 8.35m and third in the 100m in 14.1secs. Alton finished third in the long jump with a jump of 3.64m and fourth in the 100m in 13.7secs. Reanne Wood took third place in the shot with 6.08m and fourth in the discus with a throw of 15.06m. Jenna Passey finished third in her 1,500m in 6:24mins with Jo Snowden fourth in the 800m in 2:54.2mins and in the same position in the discus. Danielle Webb finished in second place in the 80m hurdles in 17.4secs, fourth in the 1,500m in 5:47.2mins and fourth in the javelin with a throw of 11.64m, with Claire Perry taking third place in the long jump with 3.54m. The Tamworth team of Free, Owen, Elvin and Cash won the 4x400m relay in 4:20.9mins. In the under-15 girls age group, personal bests were recorded by Faye McCabe (shot and discus), Hannah Alcock (discus) and Jenny Evans (200m). McCabe won the shot with a putt of 9.13m, finished second in the discus with a throw of 22.37m and the same position in the javelin with a throw of 21.89m. Evans finished fourth in the 200m in 32.2secs and in the same position in the long jump with a jump of 3.37m. Alcock took third place in the shot with a putt of 6m and was fourth in the discus, with a throw of 11.18m, and in the javelin. Laura Taylor finished third in the 100m in 13.7secs with Sophie Hetherington fourth in the 100m in 14.8secs and in the 200m in 30.5secs. Rose Williams was fourth in the 300m in 50.7secs and the long jump with a jump of 3.48m. Nicola Paul also finished fourth in the 800m in a time of 3:36.9mins and Rebecca Pate was also just outside the top three in the 1,500m in 6:23mins. The under-13 girls recorded some good performances with Sophie Taylor (75m, 150m and long jump), Milly Kellyman (75m and 150m), Sally Warren (high jump and shot), Sophie Kelly (800m), Lauren Saunders (long jump) and Leanne Lewis (800m) all recording personal bests. Kellyman won her 75m in 11secs, 150m in 21.5secs and shot in 5.56m.Taylor won her 150m in 21secs, took second place in the 75m in 10.9secs and another second in the long jump with 4.18m. Warren cleared 1.10m for fourth place in the high jump and finished in the same place in the shot with 6.03m. Lewis took second place in her 800m in 3:01.9mins and fourth in the 70m hurdles in 16secs. Kelly was third in the 800m in 2:50.6mins and Nicole King was third in the 1,200m in 4:43mins. Saunders was fourth in the long jump with 3.39m and Sophie Fairfax-Steadman was fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.05m.

With several of Tamworth AC's well-established athletes taking part in the Midland Championships, a number of young athletes seized their chance to shine in the opening Heart of England meeting at Brierley Hill. Ted White produced some excellent performances to win his three events with personal best times. White won the high jump with a clearance of 1.35m, the 80m hurdles in 14.9secs and the shot with 8.38m. Craig Farrell won his 1,500m in 4:48.3mins, his 80m hurdles in a personal best 15.7secs and took second place in the high jump with a jump of 1.50m. Tom Challis also picked up a double, winning the 400m in a personal best 60.3secs, the 80m hurdles in 13.8secs and taking third place in the long jump with4.86m. Nathan Jones-Faulkes continued his impressive form when he won the javelin with yet another personal best throw of 43.12m and Faye McCabe also gained her usual win in the javelin with a throw of 22.66m. Alex Berrow won the shot with a putt of 11.63m and took fourth place in the javelin with a throw of 23.35m. Steve Deeley won his 1,500m in 4:49.6mins, took third place in the shot with 6.12m and fourth in the javelin with a throw of 15.14m. David Goodwin won the shot with a putt of 9.51m, took fifth place in the 200m in a time of 26.4secs and finished fourth in the 100m. Stephen Parkes set another personal best in the 1,500m when he clocked 4:51.4mins, a personal best, picked up another second spot in the javelin with a throw of 22.08m and third in the long jump with 4.17m. Milly Kellyman took second place in the shot with a personal best 5.73m, third in the long jump with 3.72m and the same position in the 100m in a personal best time of 14.4secs. Liz Checkley finished second in the 400m in 62.8secs and set a season's best of 13.8secs in the 100m. James Thacker set a good new personal best of 14.4secs for third place in the 100m and finished in the same position in the 200m in 30.6secs. Samantha Day won her 800m in 2:41.3mins and took second place in the shot with a putt of 8.11m. Nathan Christian picked up a couple of personal bests when he finished in second place in the javelin with a throw of 17.29m and third in the 800m in 2:39.3mins. Ian Findlay won his shot with a personal best 10.11m, finished in fifth place in the 400m in 61.1secs and the same position in the 200m in another personal best of 26.2secs. Leanne Lewis took second place in the 1,500m in 6:16.1mins, fifth in the 70m hurdles in a personal best time of 15.9secs and third in the long jump with another personal best of 3.19m with sister Laura fifth in her 1,500m in a time of 6:10.0mins. Tom Burton was third in the 100m hurdles in 15.6secs and fourth in the high jump with a personal best clearance of 1.60m with Katherine Snowden fourth in the 800m in 2:35.4mins. Francesca Hughes finished in second place in the 75m in a personal best of 11.3secs and fourth in the 600m in 2:17.7mins. Anthony Parkes finished in third spot in the 600m in a personal best 2:00.8mins, another third in the 75m in 11.6secs and seventh in the long jump with 3.23m. Lauren Whitehouse took second place in the 75m in 11.4secs and clocked 2:22.8mins in the 600m. Sean Pates finished in third place in the 600m in 2:09.1mins, sixth in the long jump with a jump of 2.42m and sixth in the 75m in 12.9secs with sister Rebecca third in her 1,500m in 6:28.6mins. Hannah Alcock took third place in the javelin with 11.51m, fifth in the shot with 6.10m and the same place in the 100m in a personal best 14.1secs. Ashley Smetham finished third in the 400m in 81.4secs, seventh in the 1,500m in 6:06.7mins and fifth in the long jump with a jump of 3.53m. Ben Storey was third in the 200m and sixth in the long jump with a clearance of 4.90m. Newcomer Ryan Ellis made a promising start with second place in the long jump with 4.62m, fourth in the 100m in 13.4secs and fourth in the 200m in 27.9secs. Dan Challis clocked 12.1secs for fifth place in the 100m and ran a promising 400m for third place in 55.2secs. Rachael Fairfax-Steadman finished in fourth place in the 75m in a personal best of 13.7secs and Holly McCabe finished in the same position in the 75m in 13.4secs. Amy Frith took second place in the 400m in 61.8secs and Jenna Passey was fourth in the 1,500m in 6:16.7mins. Sarah Williams finished in fourth place in the shot with a putt of 6.53m and sixth in the javelin with a throw of 13.24m, while Robert Farrell was fourth in the 800m. Megan Jacobs finished in sixth place in the 1,500m in 5:37.1mins and Hannah Owen finished in the same position in the 600m in 2:11.9mins. Jake Nottman ran a plucky race after falling in his 80m hurdles to finish in fifth place in 21.5secs. Sophie Kelly finished in fifth in the javelin and clocked 3:04.1mins in the 800m. Rebecca Hallam was sixth in the 100m in 14.3secs, fifth in the long jump with a jump of 3.40m and sixth in the javelin with a throw of 14.03m. Danielle Cassar took fifth place in the long jump with 2.85m, while sister Josie was fifth in the 200m in 34.4secs and set a personal best of 15.9secs in the 100m. Newcomer Meghan Dougall finished fourth in the long jump with 2.97m, while another newcomer, Sally Warren, took fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.10m, and the same position in the shot with 5.82m. Jenny Evans was fourth in the long jump with 3.37m and seventh in the 200m in a time of 33.5secs. Amy Williams cleared 1.15m in the high jump for fifth place and a personal best, was sixth in the shot with 4.24m and seventh in the 800m in 2:50.3mins. William Smart was fifth in his 100m in 15.4secs and sixth in the 200m in 33.1secs. Rebecca Findlay took fourth place in the high jump when she cleared 1.45m, sixth in the long jump with 3.97m and sixth in the 80m hurdles in a time of 15.4secs. Nicole King took sixth place in the javelin with a throw of 10.13m and fourth in the 1,500m in 5:52.9mins. David Hudson finished in sixth place in the 100m in a season's best 14secs and seventh in the javelin with a throw of 15.22m. Sophie Fairfax-Steadman finished in sixth place in the 200m in 30.9secs, Bret Cash seventh in the shot with 4.52m and Paula Hickinbottom in the same position in her 200m in 34.7secs. Nicola Paul took sixth place in the 75m hurdles in 16.6secs and in the 100m in 15.9secs, and seventh in the 800m in 3:34.8mins. Hannah Sargeant achieved a personal best for seventh place in 13.8secs in the 75m hurdles, sixth in the long jump with 3.56m and eighth in the 200m in 32.4secs.
