Athletes Round off the Track and Field Season in Style Wednesday, September 21 2005
Tamworth AC's athletes rounded off their Heart of England League campaign at Rugby in impressive form, recording 30 personal bests.
  In the under-17 men events, Nathan Woodward (100m hurdles, 400m and high jump), Nick Crawford (100m) and Marcus Yoxall (discus) all produced best ever performances.
  Woodward looked in fine form ahead of next week's English Schools Combined Events Championships when he won the 100m hurdles in 14.1secs, the high jump with a fine clearance of 1.93m and went under 50secs for the first time when he completed a hat-trick of victories in the 400m in 49.9secs.
  Juan Padmore picked up a double when he won the long jump with 5.95m and the shot with a putt of 10.63m.
  Crawford was third in the 100m in 12secs and Yoxall finished fourth in his discus with a throw of 17.19m.
  Alex Berrow again picked up valuable points in the throwing events, winning the shot with a putt of 11.5m and finishing second in the discus with a throw of 28.82m.
  Dan Challis made a welcome return to the track when he clocked 11.7secs for fourth place in the 100m, while Ben Storey finished in the same position in the long jump with a leap of 4.49m.Tom Adams also made a welcome return to finish third in the 400m in 1:03.6mins.
  In the senior women's and under-17 women's age group, personal bests were recorded by Meghan Beesley (80m hurdles and shot), Amy Frith (400m), Gemma Wheelhouse (discus) and Sarah Williams (discus).
  Beesley won the 80m hurdles in 12secs and was second in the shot with a putt of 8.05m.
  Frith produced an excellent performance to win the 400m in 58.4secs and Wheelhouse also gained a victory double when she won the discus with a fine throw of 29.78m and the shot with a putt of 8.89m.
  Sophie Cash won her 80m hurdles in a time of 13.6secs and Leah Moores was third in the 800m in a good time of 2:21.6mins. Hollie Owen was second in the 200m.
  Justine Passey finished fourth in the A 100m in 13.3secs and Claire Free finished in the same position in the B 100m in 14.1secs.
  Sarah Williams produced her best ever throw of 16.12m in the discus and Katherine Snowden finished fourth in her 800m in 2:35mins.
  Fifth places were claimed by Megan Jacobs and Jenna Passey in the 1,500m in times of 5:40.9mins and 6:18.5mins respectively, while Rebecca Hallam also took the same position in the 400m in 1:08.6mins.
  Personal bests in the under-13 boys age group went to Ted White (80m hurdles and shot), Jordan Roach (high jump, discus and 800m), Adam McGee (100m), Nathan Christian (800m) and Brett Cash (80m hurdles).
  Roach won the high jump with a clearance of 1.45m, was second in the discus with a throw of 19.68m and sixth in the 800m in 3:02.3mins.
  White won the 80m hurdles in 13.4secs and was second in the shot with a putt of 9.20m. Nathan Christian was third in the 800m in a time of 2:34.9mins and Adam McGee also produced a good performance of 13.6secs for second place in the 100m.
  James Thacker was fourth in the 100m in 14.5secs and Brett Cash was sixth in the 80m hurdles in 20secs.
  In the under-13 girls' events, personal bests were claimed by Sophie Taylor (long jump), Milly Kellyman (70m hurdles) and Nicole King (800m).
  Taylor won her long jump with a leap of 4.38m and the 200m in 29.9secs.Kellyman was fourth in the 70m hurdles in 13.9secs and occupied the same position in the 200m in 29.9secs.King finished fifth in her 800m in 2:53.5mins.
  Samantha Storey finished second in her 100m in 14.7secs and third in the 70m hurdles in 14.4secs.
  Sophie Kelly was fifth in the 800m in 2:55.2mins and produced a putt of 4.44m in the shot.
  Emma Farrell finished fifth in the 1,500m in 6:14.7mins and produced a throw of 10.09m in the discus.
  Leanne Lewis was fourth in her 1,500m in 6:30.3mins, while Sally Warren was seventh in the high jump with a clearance of 1.1m and Bethany Scattergood finished in the same position in the 100m in 15.6secs.
  In the under-15 boys' event, personal bests went to Jan Findley (shot and 80m hurdles) and Matthew Wood (800m).
 Findley won the shot with a putt of 10.41m and was fourth in the 80m hurdles in 15.2secs, with Wood finishing in the same position in the 800m in 2:34.8mins.
  Steven Harris was fourth in the shot with 6.37m, fifth in the 800m in 2:25.4mins and produced a throw of 16.24m in the discus.
  Tom Challis finished third in the 400m in 58.2secs and fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.4m.
  Craig Farrell was third in the 80m hurdles in 15.9secs and fifth in the long jump with a leap of 4.38m.
  Ben Horsley finished third in his long jump event with a leap of 4.14m and sixth in the 100m in 13.4secs.
  Tom Adams was fifth in the 400m in 1:00.6mins and David Hudson was sixth in the 100m in 14.3secs.
  In the under-15 girls' events, personal best performances came from Laura Taylor (100m), Rose Williams (75m hurdles), Rebecca Pates (800m) and Rachael Perry (discus).
  Taylor won the 100m in 13secs and was second in the long jump with a leap of 4.49m.Pates finished fifth in the 800m in a time of 2:54.1mins and the same position in the discus.
  Rose Williams was second in the 75m hurdles in 13.3secs and eighth in the 100m in 14.7secs, while Perry finished sixth in the discus with a throw of 16.25m.
  Elyse Jinks was fourth in the 1,500m in 5:45.9mins, with Laura Lewis finishing sixth in 6:32.1mins.
  Amy Williams was sixth in the 800m in 2:47.7mins with Hannah Sargeant finishing in the same position in the 75m hurdles in 14.4secs.
  In the under-11 boys' events , personal bests were recorded by Anthony Parkes (600m and long jump) and Oliver Wood (75m and 600m).
  Parkes finished fourth in the 600m in a time of 2:0.1mins, fifth in the 75m in 11.8secs and recorded a long jump of 3.27m.Wood was fifth in the 600m in 2:11.1mins and sixth in the 75m in 12.5secs.
  Kristian Edwards made an impressive debut, winning his 600m in 2:02.5mins and Samuel Scattergood was sixth in his 600m in 2:28.6mins.
  In the under-11 girls' events, personal best performances came from Danielle Cassar (long jump) and Rebecca Evans (75m).
  Cassar finished fourth in the long jump with 3.16m and Evans finished fifth in the 75m in 13secs.Lauren Whitehouse was second in her 75m in 11.4secs and Eloise Redfern finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 3.28m.
  Other athletes taking part with results not yet available were Francesca Hughes, Kerry Hestletine, Jenni Evans, Hollie Owen, Liz Checkley, Charlotte McDonough, Hannah Alton, Oliver Williscroft, Robert Farrell and Chris Smith.

Tamworth returned from the annual invitation match at RAF Cosford with silverware for the first time ever.
  The team faced strong opposition from the Air Training Corp national team, Shropshire county team and Dudley and Stourbridge club team but were celebrating after winning the under-20 men's competition.
  Personal bests were recorded by John Jenkins (100m, 200m and 1,500m), Nathan Woodward (400m and high jump), David Lines (long jump and javelin) and Neil Rudd (shot).
  Woodward picked up a double when he won the 400m in 50.3secs and the high jump with a clearance of 1.9m.
  Jenkins won the 800m in 2:7mins, was fifth in the 1,500m in 4:39.9mins, sixth in the 100m in 12secs and the same position in the 200m in 24.5secs.
  Tom Hardman won the javelin with a throw of 47.12m and was fifth in the discus with 17.62m.
  Alex Berrow moved up an age group and finished third in the shot with a putt of 10.75m and fourth in the discus with a throw of 25.55m.
  Lines was third in the 400m in 53secs, fourth in the javelin with a throw of 26.1m, fifth in the 100m in 12secs and fifth in the long jump with a jump of 5.62m.
  Stephen Tonks was third in the 800m in 2:09.4mins and sixth in the long jump with 5.56m.Daniel Cash was third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.70m and the 200m in 23.7secs.
  Adam Bache finished fourth in the 1,500m in 4:36.3mins and team captain Rudd was sixth in the shot with 7.67m.
  In the under-17 men's age group, Tamworth finished second, beating Shropshire and Dudley and Stourbridge.
  Nathan Jones-Faulkes won the javelin with a throw of 41.83m and was second in the discus with a throw of 29.74m.
  Juan Padmore picked up a couple of second places with a jump of 6.26m in the long jump and a putt of 10.49m in the shot.
  Simon King was second in the 1,500m in 4:36.5mins and was third in the 400m in a personal best time of 59.5secs.
  Steve Deeley finished third in the 1,500m in 4:43.4mins and fourth in the 400m in 63.3secs.
  Marcus Yoxall was fifth in the javelin with a throw of 22.28m and sixth in the shot with a putt of 6.29m.
  Ashley Smethan was fifth in the 200m in 32.5secs, sixth in the 100m in 15.1secs and in the discus with a throw of 15.2m.
  In the under-15 boys age group, Tamworth finished in third place.Personal bests in this age group were recorded by Tom Challis (200m and high jump) and Matty Wood (javelin and discus).
  Challis was second place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.5m and third in the 200m in a time of 25.2secs.
  Steve Harris was third in the 800m in a time just outside his personal best of 2:19.5mins.
  Wood was fourth in the discus with a throw of 12.64m and sixth in the javelin with a distance of 16.5m.
  Nathan Christian was fifth in the discus with 9.39m, sixth in the 800m in 2:41.2mins and seventh in the javelin with a throw of 14.45m.
  David Hudson picked up two fifth places with 14secs in the 100m and 3.9m in the long jump.
  Tamworth were also third in both the ladies age groups with personal bests recorded by Sarah Williams (shot and discus), Hannah Alcock (javelin and shot), Laura Taylor (high jump), Hannah Sargeant (high jump) and Faye McCabe (javelin).
  In the under-20's age group, Meghan Beesley finished second in the long jump with 5.13m and fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.5m.
  Hollie Owen was third in the 200m in 26.6secs and fifth in the 100m in 13.1secs.
Liz Checkley was fourth in the 400m in 62.8secs, while Sarah Williams finished in the same position in the shot with 6.6m and was seventh in the discus with a throw of 13.74m.
  Sophie Cash gained a couple of sixth places with a putt of 6.10m in the shot and a throw of 16.46m in the discus.Rebecca Hallam finished eighth in the 400m in 1:11mins.
  In the under-15 girls age group, Laura Taylor finished second in the 200m in 27.7secs and the long jump with a leap of 4.78m, and was third in the high jump with 1.35m.
  McCabe was third in the javelin with a throw of 26.95m, the same position in the shot with 8.58m and fourth in the discus with 16.25m.Sargeant was fourth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.35m and the 400m in 1:11.3secs.
  Sophie Taylor finished fourth in the long jump with 4.18m and fifth in the 100m in 14.2secs.Alcock was fifth place in the javelin with a throw of 12.86m, sixth in the shot with 6.47m and eighth in the 100m in 14.9secs.
